Microtown game12/22/2023 ![]() As far as I know it crashes before Unity writes any Player.log stuff, so I would need some sort of native log crash reports and hope they actually mention the issue. I'm not even sure how to debug this without an M1. I don't know what Apple is doing different with M1 or whether it's Unity or my settings or incompatible plugins or Steam or macOS itself that have incompatibility. I also don't have an M1 myself and running a virtual machine doesn't help with this particular testing (i.e. Last time I tried messing with it, it didn't work as expected (or rather, made no difference in regards to M1). ![]() I'm on near-latest stable Unity and Universal 2 (圆4 & ARM64) is supposed to be the default CPU setup. Thanks for the pointer, I will look into some more. I wish this end up better than it looks right now, cause tbh, with 2 updates in 1 year, I wouldn't bet on it.Originally posted by Astilex:Something I would suggest depending on the Unity version used This game could be shipped as a Universal 2 Binary which will support Intel64 and ARM64 CPUs in one package. That link has been flagged as malicious according to Steam. The roadmap is more or less accurate at the moment (). I do post updates for larger patches only, but I might post another summary of fixes and smaller changes I have made in parallel. I've been fixing immediate bugs and issues as I see them, but I haven't had any big recent bugs (yay!) so I've not posted any minor patches either. The roadmap is more or less accurate at the moment ( ). Not to mention writing and actual level generator beyond a simple "noise to terrain" is a big task in itself. I have to fix coastlines, reduce/balance the number of sand and clay and rocks, and prepare for things like mining revamp and more involved lategame resource extraction. I have to change a lot of other features to match, even if it's not really obvious in gameplay. Threats and conflict: Weather (Storm, Rain) resulting in Problems like flooding, destroyed crops or fire Wildlife either cosmetic or better with gameplay effects (hunting and threats through wolves or bears) but at least some animated animals around the map so it looks less dead. I'm working on some terrain and level generation stuff at the moment, and it's a really complicated change because it changes how a lot of things work internally. Note: I will rework the layout and descriptions later for a better overview. Just waiting on the next update :) Time does flies though. It's been one of the biggest decisions whether to follow the early Settlers formula or more like Banished. ![]() I honestly cannot say if I will add combat in the future or not. And optional features are "expensive" to add, so I cannot prioritize it. Many players have expressed the same opinion so that's the direction I will keep it. Personally, I prefer games without mandatory combat and so I would definitely want the combat to be optional. ![]() I had an early (pre-EA) combat prototype for MicroTown, but I decided to wait with it. I realize Settlers had combat and it was a biggish part of the game, but I personally always enjoyed the village building more than the fighting and their settlement missions were my favourite. I will keep adding to and expanding this until it feels like it embodies what a "full village" would be like. Regarding combat, it is currently not the focus of the game as I'm aiming to finish the economy (basically, production chains) and villager needs (from basic physical needs to luxury desires). I also took a vacation to rest a bit because I've been working non-stop since early 2019. But the update has ended up being much more complicated than I anticipated for various reasons. It contains a lot of backend stuff that enables me to better control item transfers. I'm currently finishing an update to provide a longer-distance item delivery. I am also not very good at keeping up to date with social media, especially since most of my current work is just loads of code. I realize it's been a while since the last update despite my estimates and plans. ![]() I am still actively working on the game and plan to do so for the foreseeable future. ![]()
